By virtue of Hakkasan Alan Yau has created one of the most successful modern restaurant concepts in London. This achievement was recognised by the restaurant industry, when in 2002 Alan was awarded “outstanding contribution to London restaurants” at the Moet & Chandon London Restaurant Award. Alan joins a select group of previous winners including Fay Maschler, Gordon Ramsay and Sir Terence Conran.
In 2001 Alan opened Hakkasan, a directional Chinese restaurant in W1 (Hakka is a Chinese dialect and San is the Japanese form of addressing someone). Today Hakkasan is one of London’s most fashionable restaurants.
Offering 3 distinct areas, Hakkasan includes a 130 cover restaurant, a 60 cover lounge as well as a stunning 16 metre bar. The main restaurant serves Dim Sum during the day with an A La Carte menu in the evening, serving modern Chinese cuisine. The Lounge known as Ling Ling offers the same menu as the restaurant within a more relaxed setting. The bar offers a strong list of both classic and contemporary cocktails, oriental-influenced drinks as well as a comprehensive list of wine.
