The Halcyon hotel in Holland Park exemplifies beauty in hotel decor and presentation. The restaurant aptly named The Room is imbued with a relaxed and calm environment, where one can eat in comfort surrounded by modern art, colourful walls and wooden flooring. The menu can be deemed visionary: salad of sea scallops with ratatouille and gazpacho sauce, grilled native lobster with etuvée of baby leeks and velouté of vanilla. Sea food and fish make a strong showing . The restaurant skills with pastry really show, a great example of this being the orange ice cream with chocolate mousse and pieces of chocolate. The staff are extremely professional but bring a friendly attitude to the proceedings. Definitely the place where all the staff of Restaurant Guides enjoy hanging out.
