The history and philosophy behind Ma Cuisine.
In 1987 John McClements opened his first Bistrot in Twickenham. Thereafter, the trend towards fine dining thrived and McClements adjusted accordingly. Seventeen years later with a successful Restaurant running smoothly, he decided to hang up his ‘pastry cutters’ and let a young chef run his kitchen.
Missing the kitchen so much, John saw an opportunity to go back to basics and opened a traditional Bistro in a style that conjures up images of regional France from bench seating and red and white checked tablecloths to Toulouse Lautrec posters.
Ma Cuisine (My Cooking) opened in May 2003 and was an overnight success. The combination of good, traditional French style cooking at very affordable prices together with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere has made Ma Cuisine the local restaurant for all Londoners.
Ma Cuisine was nominated for the Evening Standard London Tonight Award at the Tio Pepe Restaurant of the Year 2004, winning the title the following year.
Summer 2004 saw the opening of its second restaurant in Kew Village. Ma Cuisine Kew quickly became a favourite for both locals and visitors to the area.
